Check Out My New Project!

Hi! Thanks for checking out Yoshi's Stories. If you're new here, this blog is a finished project, but please feel free to look around! If, on the other hand, you've been here before, thanks for coming back! I've started something new, and I would love for you to check it out!

Loving Life.

If you haven't already done so this summer, throw a party with some friends.  Catch up with loved ones.  Enjoy your life, because it's a wonderful gift.  In other words, this is the day the Lord has made, let's all rejoice and be glad in it.

Topped That.

This comes from a time I had to rescue my friends from Bowser, without Mario's help (he was in Italy and couldn't come in time).  The reason Luigi, Toad, and Peach all look so frightened is because they tried going in first, but the wrong way.  Maybe it looks like I was being foolhardy, but hey, when you have other Yoshis who need your help, you do what you have to.  We did get out, obviously. There's always a back door NOT guarded by Bowser's entire military force.

Superior Story.

No Yoshi, ever, has been a fan of Twilight.  It's as simple as that.  End of story.

Star Struggle.

This picture was obviously an aerial one.  Donkey Kong ended up catching the star, but only because everyone else made room for him to do it.  If we'd all crowded him I'm confident it would have fallen straight to earth.  Make room for others to do their best, and you might be surprised at the result.

Painful Peppers.

This picture was taken immediately after I tried my first (and last) ghost pepper.  Those things are royally hot.  It would have been helpful to have some milk nearby, but I just snarfed the thing down before Mario could even warn me.  Bad idea.

Kiddo Question.

I'll never forget the first time Baby Mario landed on my back after falling from who knows what height.  First I sighed with relief at having caught him, but then I immediately worried because I figured that his parents probably weren't nearby.  After all, if they had been, I don't think it likely he would have fallen from the sky.  The other Yoshis had similar concern and thus began a new adventure.

Fake Fishing.

If you've actually done any fishing you know that this picture, taken of me at Lakitu Lake, is essentially a freak circumstance.  It's rarely this action packed and definitely not as easy as it looks in this shot.  I guess that's what pictures can do...make things not as they are.

Standard Signage.

In this picture we were playing a game where the goal is to find which Piranha Plant is acting different from the others and hold up a sign with the corresponding letter.  I was the only one who guessed right, which I guess just goes to show that it's okay to have your own opinion and you shouldn't just follow the crowd.

Puppy Problems.

Baby Mario is absent in the last panel because I was taking him to a tennis tournament.  This is a pretty simple explanation.  I'm good with people and other Yoshis, but I'm not sure how I'd do with a dog.  I'm not sure I could deal with an animal that always hangs its tongue out.  Come to think of it, that's rather ironic...

Saddle Sore.

All the same, I don't know what he's so worried about.  Most of the horses I've met were pretty good-natured.  Not that I ride often (except for the Equestrian at the Olympics).  Anyway, in case you're wondering why Peach looks so panicked it's because we're doing a historical reenactment of Sybil Ludington (look her up, she's interesting).

Splendiferous Snacking.

I know I'm not just describing myself here.  This picture (taken by Mario) was from my first hotel visit.  Apparently a lot of them have free cookies.  I don't know why I don't stay at them more often.

Landmark Loss.

This picture was taken when Baby Mario and I were walking to Peach's castle.  It was his first time, so I thought he might enjoy it if I pointed out landmarks along the way.  I guess he was distracted, though, because he just kept staring in the direction of a little ice cream shop we passed after leaving his house, even after it was far away.  Oh well.

Cookie Crumbler.

I'm not saying that he would be nervous if he had to fight me.  I'm not saying that his glow stick of destiny wouldn't be a formidable obstacle.  I'm not saying that he probably wouldn't put up a good fight.  What I'm saying, if I'm saying anything, is that he would not get a single cookie on my watch, not on the island, not in New York, not at the Stark Expo, not anywhere.  Period.  Let it go, Loki.

Sorta Sphinx.

Never try to rephrase or revise something that's true in order to make it more appealing.  History shows us that we make mistakes and have successes, and we need to be willing to learn from both.

Family Threads.

I can't really stress this enough.  So many times I've been stressing out or feeling awful about some mistake I've made (like getting Luigi's hat mixed up with a melon) and my family have encouraged me and reminded me that when you fall, you repent (change protocols), get up, and move on.

Ever Higher!

The Olympics have probably challenged me physically more than almost anything, except trying to resist a plate of unguarded cookies.  That's pretty hard.  At any rate, always make excellence your goal, and always make it your goal to redefine excellence ever higher!

Fishy Fiasco.

There are plenty of adventures Mario, Luigi and I have shared that I would say were full of hair-raising moments (if I had any hair).  I guess that's what courage is; doing what needs to be done in spite of the risk.

Stark Standoff.

Yeah, so after this incident Mario and I decided he'd wear a backpack on further expeditions.  Handing things off to people doesn't seem to work out as well as it used to.

Go Getter.

So maybe my example seems trivial, but the principle remains the same.  You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, so take your shots!

Shoe Select.

Okay, so in my case the shoes I'm wearing are good for every sport.  But that's not always the case, so it's still good advice to have the right kind of shoes.

Why Eye?

Please note, I'm not trying to brag here.  In fact, I hadn't even noticed I do this until Peach pointed it out to me.  I'm not sure why I do it, but it seems to have the same effect as if I were to just blink or wink normally.  At any rate, I think it makes for some fun scrapbook pictures.

Fruit Frenzy.

This was one of my favorite trips (although a rather expensive one).  Mario and I have only done this once and I don't think we'll ever do it again...

Putter Problems.

Golf is an exciting sport, not because of the action, but because of the thrill (or chill) of hoping your ball goes where you hit it (and not into a Piranha Plant's mouth).  I especially like the scenery.

Dairy Drive.

I love summer for three reasons: sunshine (but I get plenty of that at home), friends (although I like to see them all year), and ice cream (enough said).  We were literally sprinting to Dairy Queen when this picture was taken.  Daisy said "Hi, guys!", and we waved back without stopping (except me because I generally don't wave when someone's on my back).  I think she meant to surprise us and photograph it, but we had an established mission in mind, and we were too focused on it to think of much else.  We did, however, bring her a blizzard on the way back.

Crazy Caretaking.

It's a great job...just not a slow-paced one.  I have to admire the parents who spend time with their kids, even when the kids are floating away.

Yoshi See, Yoshi Do?

It's funny how you can be viewed by so many different people so many different ways, isn't it?  I don't think we ever come across exactly as we imagine, but I also don't believe that that's really a bad thing.  After all, we often look worse to ourselves than we do to others, right?

Cabret Confused Me.

Yeah...so Hugo's a great kid.  You just have to get to know him, and that takes a while.  His first best friend described him as excessively enigmatic.  But he's good hearted, and I'd recommend his film (as long as you can withstand George Melies' weird imagination).

Tongue Traction.

I almost wish my friends hadn't taken this picture, because it looks like I'm being really rude.  Actually, Mario and I were taking a tight corner, and I thought sticking my tongue out would help provide some wind resistance to help stabilize his steering.  I doubt that actually makes any sense, but it's what I was trying to do.  I wasn't teasing anyone.

Bane of Boromir.

Normally I'd totally agree with him...but it was kind of an emergency.  However, I found that you don't explain "extenuating circumstances" to a warrior from Gondor.  All I received was this face:
